Peace, Joy, Terrariums.....
TERRARIUM CARE
The two most important things: keep cool and don’t overwater. Terrariums prefer a 50 to 60 degree temperature if possible. A shaded windowsill that gets indirect morning or evening light is ideal. No direct sun! It will cook your garden. Water sparingly at the soil level using a plastic pipette. Don’t saturate the soil, just dampen it. Rain water or well water is much better than chlorinated city water. If you didn’t get a pipette with your terrarium at the show, you can find pipettes any grow store. They usually cost a dollar or so. Don’t use a mister, it will leave water spots on the glass and soak the moss. Try to keep the top of the moss dryish and the bottom evenly moist Too much water will encourage rot.
Think of your terrarium as a living flower arrangement. If the moss starts to fade, just replace it. That’s part of the fun. For good terrarium juju, return your used moss to a shady place outside. Chances are, it’s not dead, just tired.
Have fun!
ASSEMBLY
I made a stop motion tutorial (my first!) on how to assemble your bottle terrarium kit. There’s really no right or wrong way to arrange everything. Do what pleases you. It’s is helpful to lay everything out before planting.
